Description

Straight Fingers gloves were developed to help improve the ‘bent and/or curled finger’ syndrome that occurs in osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as with athletes who take part in numerous repetitive sports such as baseball and golf. The gloves work by using gentle compression and realignment of the fingers and thumb while you sleep.

Straight Fingers gloves gradually return mobility and strength by gently straightening fingers to their normal position, going beyond the simple compression of typical arthritic gloves. Straight Fingers gloves also feature ‘finger tabs’ to make removing the gloves less difficult for fingers already feeling weakness and pain.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common age-related joint disorder in the United States and worldwide. Individuals diagnosed with hand arthritis will often exhibit limited hand functionality, finger curling, and loss of strength and mobility.

It has been found that 58.5 million adults had clinical Osteoarthritis (OA) in 2005, and in 2009 OA was the fourth most common cause of hospitalization. Today, that number is 24% adults in the United States who have reported being told by a doctor that they have some form of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, or fibromyalgia.

Relief and rehabilitation is possible with Straight Fingers!

The therapy gloves that I was offered to try have been a blessing in allowing me to paint again. The limited finger mobility in my hands that I’ve had for many years, due to my rheumatoid arthritis, took that away. As an artist, I felt completely lost being unable to continue my love of creating art due to my crippling fingers. I am now able to spend a few hours a day sitting at my window with my easel, painting what I love the most – nature, thanks to Straight Fingers!

I was really hesitant at first, when I volunteered to try a new product for my hands. It was called Straight Fingers, and they were compression gloves with straps on each finger that let me pull my fingers back individually. It was a gradual process, so I was told, because it wasn’t overnight that my fingers had bent so far inward. At the beginning, my hand and fingers kind of ached from wearing the gloves but after about three weeks of wearing them at night, I actually started to see my fingers begin to pull back out. My hands didn’t look like claws anymore. I don’t need to use them every day now, but I will definitely continue to use them to prevent my fingers from curling back in. One less thing this old body has to worry about!
