How They Work

A Step Beyond Compression

Straight Fingers Gloves

Straight Fingers, is the first glove to offer a unique ‘relief’ for the pain and weakness associated with medical conditions like arthritis, sports injuries, even repetitive work or play activities leading to pain and clenching fingers.

Straight Fingers gloves offer a ‘step beyond compression’ and will assist with gradually realigning fingers back to their natural position.

The gloves work by using gentle compression and realignment of the fingers and thumb while you sleep. Straight Fingers gloves also feature ‘finger tabs’ that make removing the gloves less difficult for fingers that are already feeling weakness and pain.

Thoughtfully Developed Based On Lived Experience and Therapeutic Expertise

Straight Fingers Pull Tabs

Straight Fingers were designed with myself in mind: the loss of strength and mobility in my hands due to osteoarthritis was frightening.

Straight Fingers was developed as a last alternative to helping me save my independence after finding minimal relief from numerous therapeutic gloves that had been recommended by my physical therapists to help alleviate pain and twisting fingers.

While the simple compression gloves relieved some of the swelling, they did not relieve the pain, aching, or the declining strength and the debilitating condition of finger bending that I was experiencing in both of my hands. Worse, compression gloves are often difficult to take off when your fingers are already feeling weak.

I knew a different approach was needed. My hands are tied to my independence, and Straight Fingers became my way of “holding on to my independence one finger at a time!” I put together a prototype with the guidance and expertise of physical therapists.

Straight Fingers has gradually brought back my mobility and strength by straightening my fingers to their normal position, so I wanted to share the product with others. I produced numerous trial gloves by hand in early 2014 to distribute to a test population consisting of individuals with and without arthritis symptoms in their fingers and hands.
